Most notably, his groundbreaking work with Dr. Richard Mecall and later Dr. George Mandelaris has set the educational and professional standard for the use of CT scans for diagnostic purposes, surgical treatment planning, computer guided implant placement, and determination of prosthetic outcomes in the dental profession. He has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and textbooks and is considered an expert in this field. Dr. Rosenfeld’s most current accomplishment is as editor and author of multiple chapters for the internationally recognized textbook entitled The Art of Computer Guided Implantology.
Dr. Rosenfeld serves on the medical advisory board of Materialise Dental, a Belgium company which manufactures SimPlant software for CT scan analysis and surgical implant guides. He is also a mentor to the SimPlant Academy, a website devoted to this field. Dr. Rosenfeld lectures for Biomet 3i, an international dental implant manufacturer on the topic of CT guided surgery.

In addition to his specialty certification, Dr. Mandelaris also obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Oral Biology from the University of Louisville where he conducted clinical and microbiological research. His research was selected for presentation at the American Academy of Periodontology’s annual session in 1999 and was later published in the Journal of Periodontology, the official publication of the American Academy of Periodontology. Dr. Mandelaris was also selected as one of the country's four finalists in the prestigious Dr. and Mrs. Gerald M. Kramer Scholarship for Excellence Award sponsored by the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation.
Less than one year following his specialty training, Dr. Mandelaris obtained the highest recognition for a specialist in the field of Periodontology and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a distinction held by less than one-third of all practicing Periodontists. Dr. Mandelaris has been selected as a reviewer for computer guided implantology articles that have been submitted to both the Journal of Periodontology and International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants- a distinction given to those considered to be experts in the field by the editorial board of these peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Mandelaris holds dental and specialty licensure in the State of Illinois. He is actively involved in the American Academy of Periodontology, where he holds leadership committee positions. He also holds memberships in the International Team for Implantology, Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Association, Illinois Dental Association, Illinois Society of Periodontists, Midwest Society of Periodontology, the Institute for Dental Implant Awareness, and the Chicago Dental Society.

Drs. Rosenfeld & Mandelaris have been practicing together since 2000. Both doctors lecture for Biomet 3i (a leading dental implant manufacturer) as well as Materialise Dental (the worlds leading cat scan (CT) technology company) on national and international levels on the topic of guided implant surgery. Recognized as leaders in their profession, their collaborations include several publications in peer reviewed journals such as the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Practical Procedures and Aesthetic Dentistry. They were amongst the first clinicians in the world to be involved in the clinical testing of the Biomet Navigator™, a computer guided surgical and implant delivery system. They have also contributed to two internationally recognized textbooks (The Art of Computer Guided Implantology published through Quintessence and Implant Site Development published through Blackwell-Wiley) on the use of CT scans for diagnostic purposes, surgical treatment planning, and execution of prosthetically directed implant therapy. In fact, The Art of Computer Guided Implantology is regarded in dentistry as the first implantology book of its kind.
Office Based Anesthesiologist
Dr. Rosenfeld and Dr. Mandelaris occasionally need the assistance of an office anesthesiologist for certain periodontal and implant surgical procedures. We have privileges for periodontal and oral surgery procedures in the operating room at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. However, many of these procedures are better suited in our office based setting rather than the O.R. We offer general anesthesia and deep level sedation during extensive surgical procedures for patients where mild-moderate IV conscious sedation is not adequate. Dr. Zakaria Messieha serves as our office based anesthesiologist. Feel free to learn more about Dr. Messieha by reading his biography below or by visiting his website www.officeanesthesiology.com.
